چکیده

To further our understanding of creating and sustaining firm competitive advantage, we need to recognize two types of contextuality within firms’ activity systems. First, the benefit of activity configurations can be contextual—while some activity configurations are generically beneficial, others gain their value only as part of particular strategies. Second, interactions among activities can be contextual. While some interactions between activities are an inherent property of the activities themselves, other interactions are determined contextually by other activity choices made by a firm. We argue that competitive advantage is likely to be more sustainable if it is based on activities that are strategy-specific and that have contextual interactions with other activities. Contextuality in Three Types of Quantum-Mechanical Systems

We present a formal theory of contextuality for a set of random variables grouped into different subsets (contexts) corresponding to different, mutually incompatible conditions. Within each context the random variables are jointly distributed, but across different contexts they are stochastically unrelated. The theory of contextuality is based on the analysis of the extent to which some of thes...

Interactivity and contextuality in organizational semiosis

In this paper we investigate how organizational semiosis may be advanced by the principles of interactivity and contextuality. These principles have been operationalized in a semiosis construction strategy which has been applied in the coordination of the development of the 3 generation of mobile systems at Ericsson. The results show that interactivity and contextuality are powerful enablers of...

Is there contextuality in behavioural and social systems?

Most behavioural and social experiments aimed at revealing contextuality are confined to cyclic systems with binary outcomes. In quantum physics, this broad class of systems includes as special cases Klyachko-Can-Binicioglu-Shumovsky-type, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bell-type and Suppes-Zanotti-Leggett-Garg-type systems. The theory of contextuality known as contextuality-by-default allows one to d...

Testing Contextuality in Cyclic Psychophysical Systems of High Ranks

Contextuality-by-Default (CbD) is a mathematical framework for understanding the role of context in systems with deterministic inputs and random outputs. A necessary and sufficient condition for contextuality was derived for cyclic systems with binary outcomes. In quantum physics, the cyclic systems of ranks n = 5, 4, and 3 are known as systems of Klyachko-type, EPR-Bell-type, and Leggett-Garg-...

Advanced Analysis of Quantum Contextuality in a Psychophysical Double-Detection Experiment

The results of behavioral experiments typically exhibit inconsistent connectedness, i.e., they violate the condition known as “no-signaling,” “no-disturbance,” or “marginal selectivity.” This prevents one from evaluating these experiments in terms of quantum contextuality if the latter understood traditionally (as, e.g., in the Kochen-Specker theorem or Bell-type inequalities). The Contextualit...
